Everyone has been talking about VR gaming, especially since the HTC Vive will be available for preorders on February 29, 2016, according to HTC CEO Cher Wang. So, since the HTC Vive headset would be easily available, the next step is to find out which games can be played using the headset. We’ve compiled some of the games you can look forward to this year, all available on Steam.

#1: Elite Dangerous: Horizons

This is the second season of Elite Dangerous and is currently sold as an Early Access game. However, you don’t need Elite Dangerous to play this version, however, you do get a 25% discount should you have it in your library. If you’re into space exploration and combat, then this simulator would be perfect, especially when you are using virtual reality. Everything will feel more natural as a simulation since instead of reaching out for the control panel, you just need to look in that direction to access it. I can only imagine how real space exploration will feel like as we roam the universe surrounded by 1:1 scale planet and stars.

#2: Windlands

When it comes to VR, nothing beats the excitement of an exploration game. It is as if VR was made for games like these. Having said that, Windlands is one of those games you can enjoy using HTC Vive as you comb through the ruins of an ancient civilization to explore and discover hidden secrets. With a myriad of features such as multiple routes, skill based, speed runs, and time trial challenges, and rewards for completed missions. Despite having all these features, Windlands can cater for two types of gamers whether you like a challenging game, or take your time exploring and enjoying your surroundings.

#3: Detached

Another game that focuses on space exploration, Detached is a First Person Experience game specially designed for VR headsets. Since it was made to experience virtual reality, everything you encounter in the game should be immersive. In this game, you are taken to the future where the human race is able to travel freely around space. However, in the fight for survival and exploration, you have to beat your rivals to gain alien technology and use them in this somewhat sandbox environment.

#4: The Gallery: Call of the Starseed

An indie adventure game, this is an episodic game that is specially build for VR gaming. You are transported into an 80s-styled fantasy setting, with lots of looking and finding through every nook and cranny. Since there is quite a bit of exploration to do, using VR gaming for a 360 view would prove to be pretty immersive especially since this game allows 360 hand tracking as well. The story revolves around you, seeking out your twin sister using a cosmic machine with the help of a dodgy professor.

#5: A Legend of Luca

This adventure room-scale indie game would either bring you closer to where the action is, or make you sick from all the veering around. As you explore the dungeon, which are basically rooms all linked together, you do the usual RPG stuff such as defeat mobs, score some treasure, and kill some dungeon bosses to gain weapons. You move using Room Scale VR via HTC Vive, and the gameplay is pretty much like Zelda with its side scrolling style. In A Legend of Luca, you need to collect Weapons of Virtue that has its own strengths, weaknesses, stories, lore, and flavor, and level up as much as possible.
