Chinese OEM OPPO, unlike any other Chinese manufacturer, makes smartphones which aren’t exactly affordable to begin with, based on their specs. However, OPPO has been relying on its marketing strategies and what lies underneath their smartphones, instead of slashing their prices and the company has once again impressed the eyes of the world, with their sale of the OPPO R9.

OPPO has claimed to push out more than 180,000 units of the R9 series to consumers during its first day of launch. This figures include both offline and online sales from various channels in China. OPPO’s marketing strategy includes collaborating with celebrities to further promote the R9 and R9 Plus across China. Aside from that, OPPO is always known to only highlight one or two key specs of its handsets.

The OPPO R9 features specs that are between the mid range to high end spectrum. It sports a 5.5-inch 1080p display with 1.66mm thin bezels, a Helio P10 SoC alongside 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. It also features a fingerprint sensor in the home button which unlocks the screen in a mere 0.2 seconds. The camera specs of the R9 proved to be quite the crowd-puller, with a 13MP rear camera and a massive 16MP selfie shooter. Powering the OPPO R9 is a slightly small 2,850mAh battery, with support for OPPO’s VOOC fast charging. What are your thoughts on the OPPO R9?
