ZTE is the name behind most of our local network operator’s infrastructure and you might even find that on your stock broadband router. While the company has been big in MWC, its presence on mobile phones isn’t that great here. However this time, ZTE has decided to make a come back to the Malaysian smartphone market by launching the ZTE Star 1 smartphone.
ZTE Mobile has made Malaysia the first Asia-Pacific country to launch its latest smartphone as they’ve identified great potential here and believe in giving consumers more choices in buying smartphones. The ZTE Star 1 isn’t exactly the company’s flagship offering but its hardware specifications isn’t too shabby, the phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 1.6GHz Quad-Core processor mated with 2GB of RAM, it has an 8 Megapixel main camera capable of taking 4cm macro shots and a 5 Megapixel front facing camera, 5-inch Full HD IPS display, 16GB of internal memory and a 2,300mAh battery.
The thing that makes the ZTE Star 1 really interesting is the number of network bands it is able to support, ZTE calls it a real world phone by making it support FDD, TDD, TD-SCDMA, WCDMA and GSM networks while being able to ride on 14 network bands, which makes it really impressive and will suit those who travels around the world.
The ZTE Star 1 retails at RM1,088, which isn’t too bad considering for its premium hardware built and features you are getting out of the box.
ZTE Mobile also took the opportunity to introduce a couple of entry-mid level Blade series line up – The Blade VEC Pro, Blade V5, Blade L2, and Blade G LUX. These devices will be priced from RM388 to RM788 while most of them having impressive displays and have a mixture of Qualcomm and Mediatek processors.
The ZTE Star 1 and Blade series are available at resellers nationwide and there are a number of distributors carrying their devices so you’ll be assured of sufficient stock supply.
