I have to admit that I hate potholes, those fugly big holes that can cause your tyre rims to go bust and damage your car’s absorbers in the long run while the government takes extended periods of time to repair the roads. Today, The Malay Mail Online reports that the Selangor state government is finally looking to resolve such issues by partnering with community-based GPS navigation app Waze, which users will be able to report potholes on the road using the app to alert other drivers and feedback to the local council. According to Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Azmin Ali, six municipal councils will be joining this initiative, namely Ampang Jaya, Kajang, Subang Jaya, Shah Alam, Petaling Jaya and Klang, the government will also target to mend the reported potholes within 72 hours after receiving the report, which is a rather impressive turnaround timeframe.
This is definitely a great news for Malaysians staying in the Selangor state, while most of us will still remain skeptical on the state council’s commited turnaround time frame, such action taken to ensure great road conditions is commendable. There’s no specific time frame on when this feature will be made available, however do keep a look out on Waze some time later in this year.
