WD Malaysia today has introduced a new series of My Cloud NAS storage into its current product portfolio targeted at prosumers and business users, the EX2100 and EX4100 are the new Expert series offerings while the DL2100 and DL4100 are being added to the company’s Business series line up.
The new My Cloud EX series are targeted at professionals such as photographers and content creators who have increasing demands of storing their important data and wanting to access them fast at the same time over the cloud, therefore they are powered by an all new powerful dual-core Marvel ARMADA processors with up to 2GB of DDR3 RAM.
The EX4100 as the top of the line 4-bay NAS storage has two Gigabit Ethernet ports, two USB 3.0 expansion ports at the rear and a direct copy USB 3.0 port on the front that will let you backup an external storage with just a push of a button, WD’s Red NAS storage are being included as part of the package starting from 8TB and up to 24TB of storage, while users will need to take note that the hard drives come preconfigured with RAID 1 configuration, which means available storage is half of what you’ll be getting out of the sold capacity and you can swap those hard drives should you want to upgrade in future.
On the other hand, the EX2100 will have 2 storage bays and users will be able to configure up to a total 12TB of storage while still being able to enjoy dual Gigabit ports, a single USB 3.0 port on the rear and a direct copy USB 3.0 port on the front of the chassis. The EX2100 and EX4100 will have a retail price starting from RM1,099 and RM1,769 for a diskless NAS storage
Business users who have serious demand for storing their files securely, accessing data fast and requires advanced system management will definitely love the My Cloud DL2100 and DL4100 NAS storage, the new Business series are powered by an Intel Atom dual-core processors and users will be able to upgrade the RAM of these two devices to meet data access and transfer demands, the DL2100 and DL4100 have built-in 1GB and 2GB RAM respectively.
In terms of ports, the DL4100 has dual gigabit ethernet ports, a total of 3 USB ports on the rear and front while the DL2100 only has a single expansion USB3.0 port on the rear while maintaining the front direct copy USB 3.0 port. The WD My Cloud DL series will support 256-bit AES encryption Active Directory security which system administrators will be able to connect to company domains and manage the NAS storage using its Linux operating system.
Similar to the Expert series, the WD My Cloud DL Business series will have WD Red NAS hard drives as part of an optional buying package, the diskless version of the DL4100 an DL2100 starts from RM1,549 and RM2,349 respectively. Both the WD My Cloud EX and DL Series NAS storage bays are now available for purchase in authorised and most IT resellers nationwide.
