Ride sharing app/service Uber will be moving out of the Klang Valley and into Perak as the company has announced that it will be making it services available in Ipoh for a month.
From the 1st to the 28th of February, Uber will be offering its services to anyone who is in Ipoh. After the 28th of February, it is likely that the service will no longer be available in Ipoh until further announcements are made.
The base fare rides for Ipoh Uber rates are slightly different, as the Base Fare begins at RM 1.50 instead of the current rate of RM 0.95. Also different is the fact that the time charges for Uber rides in Ipoh is RM 0.20 per minute, a five sen reduction over its Klang Valley rates. Distance charges remain the same at RM 0.60 per kilometer.
Uber’s availability in Ipoh can be attributed to the upcoming Chinese New Year holiday where many will be making their way back to their own hometowns.
