With smartphone makers around the world tirelessly coping with the insatiable needs of consumers demanding for even more innovative features vacuum-packed into their smartphones as the century progresses, LG Display is definitely at the fore of innovation as in July last year, the company introduced the world’s slimmest Full HD LCD Panel for smartphones. However, this time around, they have taken it up a notch and unveiled their latest development – a 0.7mm-narrow bezel Full HD LCD Panel for smartphones which happens to be the narrowest in the world!
The bezel of the display is even narrower than a credit card which measures at 0.8mm and this is all possible with the company’s “Neo Edge” module processing technology which instead of using double-sided tape to enclose the panel’s circuit board and backlight unit, an adhesive is used instead which renders the display waterproof and dustproof. Also, with the world’s first “Advanced In-Cell Touch (AIT)” technology developed by LG Display, the touch panel is directly embedded into the LCD module which cancels the need for any additional bezel space.
Mass production of the product will commence in November and customers in China would be supplied first as “demand for large screen smartphones is strong”, LG said. However, global promotion will also be active. Maybe this technology would also be incorporated as well with next year’s flagship – the LG G4.
