The Zenfone 2 has been theoretically hacked to run Windows 7

The Zenfone 2 may not actually fare too well in our review with its uninspired design and poor battery life, however we really can’t deny that this is one of the most powerful flagships out there with its 4GB RAM, and with that advantage plus Intel’s Atom processor onboard, it makes a lot of sense for it to run a full fledged PC operating system – an XDA-Developer user has apparently, made the Zenfone 2 run Windows 7. How is that possible? XDAdev user ycavan actually did this by flashing a modified bootloader and it is reported that the phone ran Windows 7 pretty decently without much issues, though usability on a 5.5-inch display is very limited and you will not be able to make phone calls in a desktop operating system. If this development continues, it would make the Zenfone 2 the next HTC HD2, which is still the king of devices out there that could handle Android, Windows Mobile, Windows Phone 7 and possibly an early build of Ubuntu Mobile. If this mod sounds cool to you, head on to the source link down below and follow the steps, its pretty tedious though as you’ll need to do a little bit of flashing and storage partitioning work, which would also mean that you will risk losing all of your data so make sure you back things up on your phone before proceeding.
