The Apple Watch Edition’s ridiculous $10,000 price tag has created a heat in both the tech and watch industry, Tag Heuer has decided to jump on the smart watch bandwagon with the help of Intel, which apparently encourages and is also an IoT enabler in the tech industry, Tag Heuer will be making a digital version of its iconic models – the Black Carrera with the same hardware design and will be able to do the usual smart watch stuffs – tracking geolocation, steps and receiving notifications.
We did said a couple of months back that the Apple Watch might actually affect luxury watches sales given that Apple products have always been considered as luxurious items, Tag Heuer’s decision to make smart watches isn’t surprising at all and other luxury watch makers will soon follow suit if they find it to be a success, Tag Heuer’s rep has even argued if Cupertino’s creation doesn’t necessarily sell as it looks like a student’s design, which might not appeal to most luxurious watch buyers.
We’ll know soon if Tag Heuer’s smartwatch is indeed something worth to be considered when the company makes its announcement later in the day at 9AM Eastern Time, let’s hope its price tag do some justice for Apple’s expensive timepiece.
