Shortly after the GALAXY Note 4’s announcement, Sony has just announced the XPERIA Z3, the company’s next flagship smartphone. Sony doesn’t seem to be making much changes to its new flagship, it maintains the same 5.2-inch 1080p Triluminous display and waterproofing features, camera resolution is also the same at 20.7 Megapixel as well. Here’s what different though, the XPERIA Z3 introduces a new wide-angle 25mm camera lens with an extremely high ISO 12,800 light sensitivity and records 4K videos, a Snapdragon 801 2.5GHz quad-core CPU is also present in the new flagship. Instead of making major hardware bumps, Sony has decided to bring media experiences to the table such as DSEE HX audio upscaling technology and digital noise cancelling, these technologies are certainly in line with Sony’s music player products so the company definitely wants to make sure that the best of Sony is updated and available in its latest XPERIA Z3 smartphone.

Also announced together with the XPERIA Z3 is the XPERIA Z3 Compact and the XPERIA Z3 Tablet compact, which apparently shares the same specs but in different form factors and screen sizes, all three devices are IP65 and IP68 certified with the ability to submerge in water up to 1.5m. Expect the XPERIA Z3 series to go on sale before the end of 2014.
