At the Game Developers Conference, Sony has officially announced that the PlayStation VR will be launching worldwide in October 2016.

Formerly known as Project Morpheis, Sony’s own VR headset is quite possibly the most affordable VR Headset to date with a pricetag of USD399 (RM1654). The headset itself features a 5.7″Full HD OLED screen. The screen has a 120Hz refresh rate and the headset itself has a latency of less than 18ms. The PlayStation VR will feature 9 LEDs for 360 degree tracking.

So what are the requirements to utilise the PlayStation VR? Besides a PlayStation 4, you’re going to need to purchase the PS4 Camera if you don’t already own it. Other than that, nothing else is required for the PlayStation VR to work.

Sony has announced that more than 230 developers are currently building content for the PlayStation VR and 50 games will be available when the headset launches. Furthermore, The Playroom VR will be available as a free download for all PS VR owners at launch, featuring six mini-games that demonstrates the headset’s capabilities.
