Earlier this year, Ross Ulbricht was charged and sentenced to life in prison for running the Silk Road website, a website on the Darknet that specializes in contraband and illicit materials. Last week, another person that is alleged to have worked on the website has been arrested in Thailand.

Roger Thomas Clark, who was arrested in Thailand on December 3rd, is the alleged mentor of Ross Ulbricht. During his tenor as Ulbricht’s senior advisor, the man has reportedly gave Ulbricht advice on how to maximise profits. He is also suspected of having used threats of violence to keep people from talking to the authorities.

Going by the pseudonyms “Variety Jones”, “VJ”, “Cimon”, and “Plural of Mongoose”, Clark is currently being held in Thailand and US Embassy has officially sent a formal letter to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Royal Thai Government, with a request to have Clark extradited to the US.

Should the Thailand government agree to extradite Clark to the US, the 54-year will face charges of narcotics conspiracy, which has a mandatory jailtime of 10 years and a maximum sentence of life in prison. He has also been charged with one count of money laundering conspiracy, which comes with a maximum sentence of 20 years.
