Last year, Qualcomm reveals a mid-range and an entry-level chipset with LTE support with the right timing for a minor refresh on both of the chipset. The Snapdragon 412 and 212 have a minor improvement over the 410 and 210, due to the increase clock speeds.

The company uses 64-bit Cortex-A53 cores and Adreno 306 on the new Snapdragon 412. Previously, the 410 have the same CPU and GPU with a higher frequencies plus enhanced memory speeds. Besides that, the chip is using a 28nm processor with the clock speed bump up from 1.2 GHz to 1.4 GHz. In addition, the chipset allows screen resolution up to 1920 x 1200 pixel and FullHD video recording with the rear camera up to 13 MP.

In other hand, the Snapdragon 212 will feature four 32-bit Cortex A7 cores and Adreno 304 graphics. The Snapdragon 212 has a 28nm processor and the clock speed increase from 1.1 GHz to 1.3 GHz. However, the Snapdragon 212 only can supports 720p screens and up to 1080p video recording (similar with Snapdragon 412) with the rear camera up to 8 MP.

Both of the chipsets features Cat.4 LTE, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, CDMA carriers and USB 2.0 with Quick Charge 2.0. We should start seeing devices with the new chipsets soon though don’t expect any major improvements in performance over existing models.
