After four years of funding, development and acquisition, Oculus Rift is complete and it the company has begun shipping out the first batch of VR headsets today.

If you were one of the first to pre-order the Rift headset, Oculus Chief Brendan Iribe has said that the headsets will be arriving at the customer’s doorstep as early as the 28th of March. Assuming that you’re living outside of the United States however, the Rift should probably reach your hands by early April.

Of course, the first batch of headsets are limited to those who have pre-ordered the Rift headset in January and those who have first funded the project on Kickstarter. If you were to pre-order now, Oculus estimates that your headset would only arrive in July.

The Rift won’t be the only VR headset that will be shipping out soon though as the HTC Vive is scheduled to be delivered on the 5th of April. That said, the virtual reality age has finally started in earnest.
