As cars get more advanced with better engine power and fuel economy, there’s a little necessity to up the game a little in tech. Alright, we are not talking about NVIDIA Tegra processors replacing the engines of your brand new Honda, but rather the other way round, the graphics chipmaker has had its NVIDIA Tegra mobile SoC powering Honda’s 2015 vehicle line up’s infotainment system, these new vehicles include the 2015 Honda Civic, Civic Tourer, and CR-V.

Honda is the 19th automaker to utilize NVIDIA’s technology to power vehicle infotainment systems, the infotainment systems will apparently run on Android, which we believe it will be a forked one where you won’t be able to download apps like you do on your usual Android devices. Sadly, you won’t be seeing Android L running on Honda’s infotainment system but rather a rather old Android 4.0.4 ICS, which is still reasonably better than some automotive makers that are still using Android 2.3 or even lower Android versions.

Honda Connect is the name for its infotainment system, which will feature a 7-inch capacitive display for satellite navigation, music listening and vehicle information, there will be some region specific apps being installed as well. Just as you know, there are already 6 million cars with NVIDIA processors on the road today so that’s an incredible amount, the company plans to have its mobile processors integrated into more vehicle makes in the next 5 years.
