As far as we know, Motorola smartphones won’t be having the Moto branding anymore since the Moto-Lenovo merger, or more like Lenovo’s acquisition of Motorola Mobility, which tells us that the next Moto X will most likely be replaced by a Lenovo branding or Moto X by Lenovo. The same case applies to the rest of the Moto handsets, including the 3rd-gen Moto E, which was supposedly launched by now, but ended up being delayed for unknown reasons.

The good news however, is that the device will probably be launched some time this year, as we came across GFXBench results of the barely mid-tier smartphone. According to the benchmark, the Moto E’s display is upped to a more acceptable 5-inch 720p resolution compared to the 2nd-gen’s 4.5-inch 960×540 resolution display. The surprising change is the Moto E’s SoC, now sporting a MediaTek MT6735P, clocked lower at 1.0GHz than the previous 1.4GHz clocked Snapdragon 410. However, we’re looking at double the amount of RAM on the device, 2GB up from 1GB which might explain the “downgrade” in terms of the processor.

Also included in the upgrade are the rear and front cameras, from a 5MP to an 8MP rear facing shooter and a huge upgrade of 5MP from the previous VGA selfie camera, highlighting the importance and priority of seflie-taking in this day and age. The alleged device will run Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box. From the looks of its specs, it is possible that Lenovo (or Motorola) will still be maintaining the low price point for this budget-friendly device. What do you think?
