Microsoft has closed the doors of one games development studio and may be close to closing down another as the company announced that they have shut down Press Play Studios and are currently in discussions with employees about the proposed closure of Lionhead Studios.

With the closure of Press Play Studios, a video game development studio in Denmark, development of Project Knoxville has been cancelled. Press Play Studios were responsible for puzzle adventure games such as Max & the Magic Marker and Max: The Curse of the Brotherhood.

Lionhead Studios hasn’t exactly been closed yet, but Microsoft confirmed that all development for Fable Legends has ceased. Originally announced in 2013, Fable Legends was supposed to be launched in 2015, but was delayed to 2016 instead. The closure of Lionhead Studio would mark the end of a game development studio that has brought us the Fable series, the Black & White series, The Movies, as well as a certain someone named Peter Molyneux.
