I have to admit when it comes to buying a smartphone, one of the most important feature is to have a great camera. Lenovo is of the same mind since today they have launched a new mid-range smartphone that focuses on camera functionality more than anything else.

The inside of the Vibe Shot sports a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chip and 3GB RAM, which is not unusual in a mid-range phone. It also comes with 32Gb internal storage and up to 128GB expandable storage through microSD card support. Lenovo has also made the Vibe Shot with 4G/LTE support, which is a great add-on to a mid-range.

When it comes to looks, the Vibe Shot doesn’t lose out by utilising premium materials with a full aluminium outer frame, and Corning Gorilla glass on the front and back. It also sports a 5.0-inch Full HD screen.

Now, for the main star: the camera. The Lenovo Vibe Shot is like a standalone camera, with a dedicated shutter button to instantly activate the camera function. It has on-board infrared auto-focusing (AF), with tri-colour LED flash for more natural skin tone. On top of that, the camera has superior low-light performance and clarity with its 16:9 BSI sensor, optical image stabilisation (OIS) tech that will reduce blurring in case your hand shakes while shooting.

Not satisfied with Auto mode and want more control over your photo shoots? Then you can utilise the Pro mode which gives you manual controls such as aperture, shutter speed and ISO settings and more. The phone camera also incorporates the world’s first panoramic selfie feature that lets you take three selfies and turn them into one, making shooting wefies a whole lot easier.

The Lenovo Vibe Shot currently comes is two colours: Carmine Red and Graphite Grey, and is priced at RM1,399. Available for purchase from 18 August 2015 onwards at all Lenovo Smartphone Retail Partners.

Here’s a first look at the Lenovo Vibe Shot during the launch today.
