INTI International College co-organised the AppAsia Mobile Challenge 2015 recently on 26 October 2015, which is a competition that requires students to use their knowledge, ingenuity and creativity to come up with original mobile applications. It is an excellent platform for the students to showcase their creative concept and innovative ideas and to contribute a useful mobile application to mobile users.

The Challenge was jointly launched by INTI International College Dean for UOW Programme Dr Jane Lim, Executive Director of AppAsia Bhd Calvert Wong and Chief Technology Officer of AppAsia Bhd Joekie Thong.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr Jane expressed her deepest gratitude to AppAsia Bhd for their hard work in organising the Challenge and their generous sponsorship for the event. She emphasised on how technologies have a great impact in shaping the way we live, study and communicate with one another. She added, “The use of mobile apps will continue to be on the rise. The knowledge that you gained today, plus the innovativeness and creativity in you, can make you a very successful technopreneur.”

In his address, Calvert extended his warm gratitude to INTI International College for the opportunity to work together in nurturing talents among the students, specifically in the mobile application industry. He shared his experiences in the mobile industry and encouraged students to have a good thinking spirit, the right mindset and passion in order to achieve their dreams.

He advised, “Be passionate in chasing your dreams, never stop innovating. The future of the mobile apps industry lies in hands of those of you who love what you do.” Apart from that, he added that if we love to do something, we will do it honestly. “Be passionate in chasing your dreams, never stop inventing new technology and change the world,” enthused Calvert.

The Challenge is open to students of all faculties in INTI International College. The participating students stand a chance to win attractive prizes, which include RM5,000 for the first prize, RM3,000 for the second prize, RM1,000 for the third prize and RM300 each for the five consolation prizes. In addition, the winners will also receive trophies and certificates of participation.

The top 10 finalists presented their mobile applications to 4 judges from INTI International College and AppAsia Bhd. Team Fragbit bags home the first prize of RM5,000 with their “Crumbs” application.
