It didn’t take long for HTC to announce its next phablet flagship even before its One M9 smartphone goes official here, the One M9 Plus is now the company’s most fully packed phablet smartphone, which brings back the famous duo camera that does bokeh, a 2K display to impress and brings one thing I’m not really fond of – a Samsung-like home button that houses the fingerprint scanner.

First things first, the One M9 Plus hardware is a little different but better in some ways than the original One M9. HTC has opted for a Mediatek MT6795T 64-bit Octa-Core chip with a max clock speed of 2.2GHz, it has 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage with MicroSD expansion, display size has been increased slightly to 5.2-inch with a Quad HD resolution. Apart from bringing back the duo camera setup, the resolution of the main sensor remains at 20-megapixels while the front shooter is the familiar Ultrapixel camera that we know of.

The One M9 Plus is officially announced in a HTC China event today and that new biometric hardware is compatible with the country’s famous Alipay payment system, we’re not sure on how HTC will implement that fingerprint feature globally given that there are other payment solutions such as Apple Pay and Samsung Pay already present. If you look closely at the phone itself, are you starting to realize that it looks a little like the Galaxy S6? Let’s wait for the One M9 Plus to be announced globally.
