More than four years down the road, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, produced in collaboration with Google may be considered obsolete by many, but that’s not the case with the community of developers at CyanogenMod.

Although Google has abandoned the early Nexus back in its Jelly Bean days, the CyanogenMod community is turning the tables by allowing Galaxy Nexus users to have a taste of Android Lollipop. Nightlies have been pushed out, but is expected to have many bugs as the builds are still in its initial stage.

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus, which was released back in November 2011, runs Android Ice Cream Sandwich, powered by a well aged TI OMAP 4460 and 1GB of RAM. It sports a 4.65 inch 720p Super AMOLED screen, 5MP rear camera and 1.3MP front-facing camera. Although its specs are elementary by today’s standards, it’s certainly not forgotten by a handful in the Android development community.
