Firefox has gotten a big update making it much faster and more memory efficient with the Quantum update. Now they are working on a new feature that will warn you if a website has been affected by a data breach, together with “Have I Been Pwned”, a site that can check your email address and tell you if your credentials have been stolen by hackers.

Troy Hunt, the security expert behind Have I Been Pwned has confirmed in a tweet that they are working with Mozilla to get this feature done. As for now, the update is still in an early stage, but you can download it from Github, compile it and add it to Firefox, but do note that it will only work in the Developer Edition. Both parties are working on the code but it is still unsure how the final product will turn out.

Website owners that have experienced a breach are not too happy about this feature as it might drive traffic away from their site. Mozilla and Hunt are doing this not to disrupt traffic from the site but, allowing it to act as a precaution to users that visit these sites to change their passwords and information if needed.
