Just last week, social media giant Facebook has introduced a new feature known as Live 360, which allows Facebook users to broadcast 360 degree footage live on the platform. Today, Facebook has unveiled a new way of broadcasting, and this time it appeals more towards podcasters and those who are camera shy.

Introducing Live Audio, a new different way to broadcast, and for the first time ever on Facebook, not in video format. Facebook has acknowledged that users and publishers have been looking for different ways to broadcast live to their audience in an audio only format, hence Live Audio is supposed to make life easier for everyone as a alternative way of broadcasting, an additional choice.

The Live Audio feature can also be considered when network connectivity signal is low. With that, Facebook has presented another option in an event where Live Video won’t work optimally. Apart from the lack of video, Live Audio works pretty much similar to Live Video, whereby viewers, or listeners in this case will be able to leave comments, reactions and ask questions live during the broadcast.

iOS users will be able to listen to Live Audio while browsing other parts of the Facebook app, whereas Android users will be able to listen to a broadcast even after leaving the Facebook app or when the lock their phones. Facebook will be testing this new feature first before rolling it out to the public next year. What do you think of Live Audio?
