Accusations of Facebook influencing the U.S. Presidential Elections by way of hosting fake news has kicked the social media company into action in its war against fake news. One such move that will be arriving on Facebook shortly is a feature called Collections.

Functionally identical to Snapchat’s Discover section, Collections would showcase news stories, listicles, videos and other content submitted by handpicked media partners. According to Business Insider, Facebook has approached media and entertainment companies to create content for Collections.

Once Collections goes live, companies that are part of the Collection program will have their content inserted into the News Feed by Facebook. These companies would no longer need to rely on likes or Facebook’s sponsored post program, both of which are required if the companies want their content to be seen in the News Feed.

While Collections is part of Facebook’s plans to combat fake news, it would also be used to compete with Snapchat and its aforementioned Discover feature. No word was given as to when Collections will be launched or how its monetization system would function.
