If you have sat in motion seats in theme parks, you’d have probably experienced that really scary and probably dizzy moment in your seats while watching those 4D or 6D movies. When that experience comes into the real cinema, coupled with Dolby Atmos surround sound, that’s when things start to be interesting.
We were invited to an exclusive movie preview of Penguins of Madagascar by GSC Cinemas, this animated film is the first movie that the company has decided to give viewers a DBOX experience. The DBOX seats are basically moving seats that will move according to effects and motion, it also has a vibrator that gets activated when there are effects such as explosions or bumps, which gives users an extremely realistic experience. The DBOX seats are really comfortable to seat on and they don’t feel mechanical like some motion seats, and best of all you won’t require a seatbelt.
The DBOX seats were located in a screen with Dolby Atmos audio, imagine that great surround sound and motion, it is so going to be so memorable than 3D movies when you watch action filled movies. Penguins of Madagascar is a pretty good show to start with, the penguins’ funny and fast paced action, flying spaceships and explosions, you can literally feel those great rumbles on your seat which sets a really unforgettable movie experience. Of course, you can adjust the intensity of the seat’s vibrator if you aren’t comfortable with it, but we suggest that you turn it up to the max.
While Penguins of Madagascar isn’t the best movie for a D-BOX effect, the next upcoming movie with DBOX would be The Hobbit: Battle of Five Armies, which is set to be aired on December 18. Below is a list of movies that will be screened at DBOX screens.

DBOX seats are now available in both GSC 1 Utama and GSC Pavilion outlets so do check them out if you want to enjoy a great movie experience, tickets are sold at RM34 which pretty much costs around the same like a 3D movie but trust us, you’d want to give it a go for one of the movies listed above, it’s amazing.
