DiGi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd has launched the DiGiWED (Digi Wanita Era Digital) programme, available nationwide to cultivate internet usage among women. This programme is a collaboration between Digi, the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia Malaysia, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and the National Council of Women’s Organisations (NCWO).

Lying in the core of this programme are educational meetups conducted nationwide, at 1Malaysia Internet Centres and NCWO affliates’ offices. These meetups are catered to educate the womenfolk on the usage of the internet across various devices.

Dato’ Sri Dr. Sharifah Zarah Syed Ahmad, Secretary General of Ministry of Communications and Multimedia stated that progress towards becoming a digital nation must be an inclusive process.

The company is looking to expand DiGiWED, assisting women to take their business to a new level, with the power of the internet.

With 6 million women who have yet to access the internet, Digi is implementing this programme to bridge the gap between women and the digital age.
