So...there’s going to be a new Witcher game according to CD Projekt Red President Adam Kicinski. He revealed that the game will be in development once Cyberpunk 2077 hits the shelves.
The Polish developers’ upcoming FPS RPG is set to release this September 17 and is already for pre-order across all platforms – so we can expect the new Witcher game to start development sometime September too at the earliest.
It’s unsure if the new game will be the successor to the award-winning The Witcher 3, and it doesn’t seem likely to be Witcher 4 honestly. CDPR had once told the press after the launch of The Witcher 3 that it would be the developers’ last foray into Geralt’s story in the series. With this in mind, we could see a spin-off title, or a new one that continues Ciri’s adventures.
But then again, that depends on which ending you got – spoiler alert, she either becomes a Witcher, a queen, or she dies.

So for the story to somehow twist and turn to lead to her becoming a Witcher in the new game just for the sake of it, would be a betrayal to the main story line – imagine if in your playthrough she died, but somehow she didn’t in the new game.
We also can’t help but think this revelation has something to do with the success of Netflix’s live-action series adaptation of the franchise. We’re not saying the developers are cashing in. And we hope it isn’t – so we’ll have to see next year, when the game has found its legs, what the new Witcher title is all about.
