If you think releasing a Deluxe edition of a smartphone with a built-in 128GB of storage isn’t crazy enough, the folks at ASUS have been at creative work once again by announcing a special ROG-themed edition of its flagship ZenFone 2. Sadly, you are not getting an NVIDIA Tegra X1 chip onboard but rather, it is technically the same ZE551ML model that you are getting out of the box, so what makes the ZenFone 2 Deluxe ROG Special Edition so different?

Instead of the standard box it comes with, the special edition ZenFone 2 comes with a carbon fibre styled boxed and once you get it unboxed, you are welcomed with two additional back cases – a ROG silver themed 3D texture and a carbon fibre coated one. In addition, the volume rocker also gets an orange-red paint around its corners, definitely special enough to tell the difference from the current ZenFone 2 Deluxe edition.

The ZenFone 2 is the most powerful ZenFone with 4GB of RAM and a fast Intel Atom Z3580 processor, the special edition will retail at $399 in the US and its still decently priced despite being ‘special’, its good to know that ASUS have been consistently updating its ZenFones for market sustainability however we do hope that ASUS could just launch devices such as the ZenFone 2 Zoom and ZenFone 2 Max soon.
