The long running court drama between Apple and Samsung is finally over, and Apple emerged out of this mess the winner.

An injunction issued by a US District Court judge will take effect next month, effectively banning some older Samsung smartphone models from being sold in the US. These phone models include Samsung’s Admire, Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy Note, Galaxy Note II, Galaxy S II, Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch, Galaxy S II Skyrocket, Galaxy S III, and Stratosphere products.

Patents that were found to be infringed upon by Samsung includes U.S. Patent No. 5,946,647 which involves data detection and linking feature, U.S. Patent No. 8,046,721 which involveds the slide-to-unlock feature, and U.S. Patent No. 8,074,172, which involves the autocorrect feature.

On top of the sales ban, the judge further barred Samsung from sale or development in the US of software that would implement the features deemed to have been infringed on during the patent litigation.

Samsung is understandbly disappointed about the District Court’s decision, even though the sales ban only affects smartphone models that are considered obsolete. “While this will not impact American consumers, it is another example of Apple abusing the judicial system to create bad legal precedent which can harm consumer choice for generations to come,” says Samsung.
