The legal war between Apple and Samsung is far from over as Apple has recently file its arguments to the Supreme Court, telling them that there is no reason for it to take up Samsung’s appeal in the long-running patent dispute.
Samsung’s appeal revolves around the issue of design patents, particularly how damages are calculated. Samsung isn’t alone in this appeal as Google and Facebook have also filed arguments encouraging the court to hear Samsung’s appeal.
Filed on Thursday, Apple’s argument is that the method for awarding damages in design patents is a settled issue and not worthy of a review. Samsung, of course, argued differently, as the Korean company claims that if the legal precedent in the case stands, innovation and competition will be hampered and opportunistic lawsuits could have negative effects throughout the U.S. economy.
