AMD, known PC hardware manufacturer, has just introduced all new drivers for their graphics cards line up named Crimson. AMD Crimson has offered improved performance in gaming especially in certain games such as Counter Strike: Global Offensive. A couple of days later, a few users have been reporting bugs and glitches with the new drivers but the major one was killing the GPUs.
The fan speed was reported to be limited by the AMD Crimson drivers causing them to overheat and die off permanently before the user can realize it while they’re immersed in gaming. The drivers are overriding user settings and fan speeds to just about 20% which is definitely not sufficient primarily while playing demanding games.
AMD has just recently acknowledged the issue and they should have a quick driver hotfix released immediately tomorrow that resolves the issue. The engineering teams have identified and addressed this issue, and AMD intends to release a hotfix on amd.com this coming Monday, November 30th.
Both AMD and NVIDIA have had issues with drivers and fan speeds. Over five years ago NVIDIA GeForce 196.75 video card drivers had a fan controller issue and caused GPUs to die and there were reports of entire systems being damaged.

Please note that this solution is temporary because the settings will reset with every reboot. Other fan controlling utilities like SpeedFan or MSI Afterburner should work too. MSI Afterburner should not reset provided you turn on the “Apply On Boot” setting with MSI Afterburner running as a startup program.
