Many of you would have heard of Mara Digital, also known as “Low Yat 2”. Now, you can expect two more of its kind to pop up as Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) has confirmed that it intends to open at least two more of the all-bumiputera mall in Selangor within the year.
According to federal minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri, Mara has identified two locations where Mara Digitals would be established. The first would be in Anggerik Mall in Shah Alam, while the other would be to-be-disclosed location at Kota Damansara. The Anggerik Mall branch is expected to be operational by June and the Kota Damansara branch is scheduled to operate by the year’s end.
The opening of new branches of Mara Digital has always been on the works as Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri has voiced his intentions when the first Mara Digital was opened at the Medan Mara building. When asked by reporters if the expansion plans are done too hastily, the minister replied “from what the staff here told me, they have done quite well and sales have gone up”.
Seeing as Mara Digital is barely a month old, it is hard to gauge if Mara Digital would remain popular after a year’s time. Regardless, it seems that Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri has every intention of striking the iron while its hot, so you can expect the other two branches to be opened this year, even if it seems like a short-sighted decision to do so.
