Not having enough storage for your phone or tablet despite already having a 64GB memory card? Sandisk today announced the world’s first 128GB microSD card for your devices, which costs USD$199 and equivalent to paying the price for a SSD (solid-state disk) rather than a usual SD card. It’s really amazing to see such amount of storage packed into a small size and Sandisk promises transfer speeds of up to 10 megabytes-per-second. You probably wondered how can Sandisk pack such amount of storage into a microSD card,Sandisk mentions that they achieve this by developing a proprietary technique for virtually staking 16 die, “each shaved to be thinner than a strand of hair”.

The 128GB Ultra MicroSDXC card supports Android smartphones and tablets and Sandisk has also released a new version of the Sandisk Memory Zone app in Google’s Play Store with a new feature called Optimem that aims to transfer photos and videos from the phone’s internal storage to the memory card. This memory card is available from today in BestBuy and Amazon, so if you’re staying in the US and want to expand your device memory without considering the costs, head over to those online stores now. We expect the product to arrive in Malaysia soon.
