With the Note 7 pretty much dead and buried, Samsung’s mobile division is moving on to its new target: the Galaxy S8. In a report by the Wall Street Journal, Samsung’s Vice President of Mobile Lee Kyeong-tae has revealed some details about the upcoming smartphone, and some of the additions made to the phone looks to be interesting.

As is expected of a new phone, Lee has mentioned that Samsung will be revamping the S8, giving it a “slick design and an improved camera.” However, the big feature that will be coming to the S8 is artificial-intelligence, as Lee stated that the phone will receive an “enhanced artificial-intelligence service.”

Lee did not specify what exactly this A.I. service is, but seeing as Samsung has recently purchased Viv Labs, an educated guess can be made that Samsung will be introducing its own A.I. assistant (e.g. Siri, Cortana) with the S8. As Samsung has previously mentioned that the company is looking to integrate A.I. into its other products, the S8 could very well be a test drive for Samsung’s own digital assistant.

Samsung is currently looking to release the S8 early next year. Hopefully Samsung’s decision to rush the S8 out won’t come back to bite them in the rear.
