Microsoft are making a change to their internet browser offerings and it looks like it’s for the better. You may have heard that Microsoft are rebuilding the Microsoft Edge browser to run on the Chrome engine, to the delight of many Windows users.

Recently, the American giants have piled on the good news by confirming that they will be integrating the aging Internet Explorer browser into the upcoming Chromium-based Edge. The older version of MS Edge, which was built using EdgeHTML and Chakra engines, couldn’t support legacy applications and programs like ActiveX; making it so that those who rely on such programs to shy away from MS Edge.

The new Chrome-based Edge will be able to use an Internet Explorer rendering engine and create a separate tab to that looks and runs like the old browser. Therefore, businesses that rely on IE will be able to upgrade without sacrifice.

Although this new change is geared towards businesses, Microsoft will also be adding a feature called Collections, which allows you to collect and copy text, as well as images, into a note tab by simply dragging and dropping highlighted items. These items can then be moved into MS Word, can be shared to friends and more. Anything you copy will also be referenced back to its source to help with workflow.

These updates will gradually be rolled out to users soon, but if you’re eager to try it out, you can download the Dev or Canary channel build here so you can try it out.
