Microsoft Phone platform doesn’t work like Android devices because they follow a pretty strict and tight list of what kind of hardware specs OEMs must use, or at the very least meet in terms of minimum requirements. This was a rule because Microsoft wanted to have a consistent experience so that everyone can optimize the phone easily.

Windows 10 Mobile is just around the corner, there must be a lot of people that wondering what kind of hardware specs Microsoft might require for OEMS. Fortunately, Microsoft recently published the specs on their website, and interestingly enough it seems that Microsoft has lowered their specs further than the previous predecessor.

According to the specs, Microsoft will require OEMs to create a handset with a display resolution of at least 800 x 480. Moreover, there must be at least 512 MB of RAM with 4GB of storage, and a minimum VGA camera. Apparently, front-facing camera, Bluetooth and accelerometers doesn’t mention in the list.

Microsoft is trying to attract as much OEMs as possible by introducing a spec list as low as this and OEMs will be able to churn out affordable devices, which in turn would allow Microsoft to go on and compete in emerging markets, something they’ve done pretty well so far. We believe that there are a lot of Windows phone out there that desire the new Windows 10 flagship phone, but we will skip that until we got the proper news.
