The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is certainly a beautiful device to many, but also an eye sore to some critics out there. The flagship device does make it stand out with its curved edge screen, but Samsung looks to give the S6 Edge a clearer edge with this new software update. One thing to note is the Galaxy S6 is receiving the updates as well, which means Android Marshmallow is rolling out to both the S6 and S6 Edge.

Samsung is squeezing more pixels to the edge interface of the S6 Edge, increasing it from 260 pixels to 550 pixels, in order to pack more to the edge. In other words, more content can be displayed. The software update adds a new panel, which displays frequently used apps. Moreover, Samsung has added names under photos in the contacts panel for the forgetful folk. The edge’s apps feature have also been doubled up to 10 apps displayed from the previous 5.

S6 Edge users are now able to adjust the size of the edge interface, meaning more displayed content when widened. Apart from that, the edge interface can also be tweaked in terms of transparency and position, making full use of Android’s forte – customization in this new software update. Samsung claims that it is working with third parties to bring more functionality into the edge interface. For example, the additional feature of being able to access sports news, headlines and stock reports from the edge of the screen.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow is just a tiny step forward from Lollipop. Hopefully, the update doesn’t come with unwanted baggage to Samsung’s somewhat lightweight TouchWiz skin.
