Smartphone cameras have become an essential part of our daily lives. For us amateur and pro-mateur shutterbugs, modern smartphone cameras perform well enough for us to ditch our point-and-shoot’s and DSLR cameras, which would require more carrying space, not to mention an extra carry-on gadget. The lenses on smartphones are tiny compared to conventional camera lenses, and some of them even feature massive apertures, the recent notable one being the F/1.7 shooter of the Galaxy S8. But it looks like we have a new challenger.

A trusted source has reached out to fellow tech site Slash Gear, claiming that the camera of the upcoming LG V30 will have an aperture of F/1.6, which is a tad larger than the 12MP shooter on the Samsung Galaxy S8. For those of you who have yet to comprehend the aperture number of cameras, the smaller the number of the aperture count, the more light the camera captures, which will translate to a greater liberty in controlling the depth of field when capturing images. A larger aperture also means that you’ll be able to capture more bokeh-licious shots with your camera/smartphone camera.

The F/1.6 aperture will be for the regular shooter of the LG V30’s dual rear camera setup. The wide angle lens will probably have a smaller aperture. Other predictions include the secondary ticker screen said to be done away by LG in place of an 18:9 aspect ratio display.

The LG V30 will be making its appearance right before IFA 2017 commences later this year. Till then, we can only make our guesses on how the camera(s) will perform.
