Last week, we reported that John Romero and Adrian Carmack launched a Kickstarter project for an FPS game called “Blackroom.” Over the weekend, said Kickstarter was suspended as Romero wanted to release a working demo of the game before relaunching the crowdfunding project.

In a Backer-Only update post, Romero announced that “the team is at work on a demo which demonstrates the kind of gameplay, look, and innovative, cool features that make Blackroom truly unique.” “Simply put, this will take more time than the Kickstarter has left, so we’ve decided to suspend the campaign and launch a new one when the gameplay demo is ready,” says Romero.

Romero’s decision to suspend Blackroom’s Kickstarter until a playable demo is made can be attributed to the comments section. Due to the lack of any solid prototype other than concept art, as well as Romero’s history in the video game industry, many were skeptical as to whether or not Blackroom would even be a finished product. No timeline was given as to when a demo of Blackroom will be made available though, so those interested in the game may have to wait a while.
