When you think of Dell, you always remember workstations and those productivity notebooks popular with the general public. Dell made a surprise move this time though, by releasing a tablet designed for performance and reliability, even at the harshest conditions. This new tablet is a recent addition to Dell’s Rugged portfolio that includes the Latitude 12 Rugged Extreme series.

This hardy tablet is fitted with the fifth-generation Intel Core M processor, fourth-generation QuadCool thermal management and sports a crisp 11.6-inch Direct-View HD display that allows easy outdoor reading. The Latitude 12 Rugged Tablet also features SSD up to 512GB and connectivity anywhere with 802.11ac Wi-Fi with optional mobile broadband and GPS support. Worried about battery life? This tablet boasts up to 12 hours of battery life with two 2-cell batteries on-board.

Since this tablet can withstand any conditions, you can opt to take it anywhere and be more productive by adding on accessories to aid with that. The Rugged Tablet comes with a durable pogo-pin docking interface for modular component expansion when needed, as well as other accessories to extend its ecosystem such as a desk dock, vehicle dock and keyboard. There is also an optional full-size keyboard cover for customisable RGB backlight and an IP-65 water and dust rating.

If you are particular about device security, then you would be glad to know that the Rugged Tablet offers Dell Data Protection as well as the availability of Intel vPro and Intel TPM 1.2.

The Latitude 12 Rugged Tablet local pricing and availability will be announced end of this month.
