ASUS has officially launched its highly anticipated ZenFone 2 in an SEA regional launch here in Jakarta, Indonesia. The ZenFone 2 continues to bring on the successful features implemented on the original ZenFones and it gets better this time with a new premium design and more powerful hardware internals.

The ZenFone 2 was announced back in CES 2015 and has won the 2015 iF design award, it features a luxurious metalic hairline finish on its back and measures a mere 3.9mm at its thinnest edges, its 72% screen-to-body ratio has made the phone to be compact despite packing a 5.5-inch display. There’s also a button on the back that functions as a volume control and
camera shutter button when taking selfies.

In terms of specs, the ZenFone 2 (ZE551ML) is powered by a 64-bit Intel Atom Z3580 processor mated to 4GB of RAM and a Full HD display, a lower end variant (ZE550ML) will come with an Intel Atom Z3560 processor mated to 2GB of RAM and a 720p HD Display. Storage options will start from 16GB up to 64GB with MicroSD expansion.

The most exciting part of the hardware department is that the phone will have an improved 13-megapixel PixelMaster f/2.0 main camera and front facing 5-megapixel camera with 85 degree FOV and supports the company’s groundbreaking low light mode. This time, the main camera uses a dual-color RealTone flash for true-to-life photos and is able to take resampled pictures of up to 52-megapixels with its Super Resolution Mode.

Availability of the ZenFone 2 will be available in Malaysia very soon and will be officially announced on the Incredible ZenDay happening at 9 May 2015 at KL Live. Stay tuned for more ZenFone 2 coverage for today!
