Lowyat.net has yet again managed to uncover more information on the 2014 data breach and they have mentioned that 46.2 million Malaysian mobile phone numbers have been leaked. The information that has got out includes postpaid and prepaid numbers, customer details, addresses, IMEI and IMSI numbers.

The data that they have downloaded indicates that the data has been updated between May and July 2014 detailing the number of leaks for each telco. What is even more amazing is the person that managed to get the data, also tried to sell it on Lowyat forum and the guys over at lowyat.net also said that based on the condition of the files, they are quite certain that it had already been passed to different people more than once.

In addition to that, the Medical Practitioners Database has also been leaked. This includes data from the Malaysian Medical Council, Malaysian Medical Association and the Malaysian Dental Association. The data that is compromised is personal information, MyKad numbers, mobile, work and home phone numbers, work and residential addresses.
There is still no news on how these companies and bodies are going to resecure the data, but we do recommend that you get your sim card changed if you are really worried about your data and update your personal information if you have not.
