vivo has officially launched the X500 series in China, and the headline model is easily the X500 Pro Max. It combines a 200MP telephoto camera, a new high-dynamic-range main sensor, 4K slow-motion recording at up to 240fps and an 8,000mAh battery — but the more interesting detail for us is that all three X500 models have already appeared in Malaysia’s SIRIM database.
That does not confirm a Malaysian launch date or price, but it is usually a good sign that the necessary regulatory work is already underway.
A serious camera flagship
The X500 Pro Max uses a 50MP main camera with vivo’s Blueprint Light 900 imaging sensor, which the company rates for up to 17EV of dynamic range. It is joined by a 200MP ZEISS APO telephoto camera with 3.5x optical zoom and a 50MP ultrawide camera.
Video looks just as ambitious. The phone can shoot 4K slow motion at up to 240fps, 4K video with subject tracking at up to 120fps and up to 8K video. vivo is also offering optional ZEISS teleconverter accessories that extend the telephoto system to longer focal lengths for stage, sports and travel photography.
Dimensity 9600 Pro and an 8,000mAh battery
Inside is MediaTek’s new 2nm Dimensity 9600 Pro, paired with 12GB or 16GB of LPDDR5X memory and up to 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage. The 6.85-inch AMOLED display has a 3168 x 1440 resolution and an adaptive 1Hz to 144Hz refresh rate.
The battery is another standout. vivo has fitted an 8,000mAh single-cell battery with support for up to 90W wired and 40W wireless charging. That is an unusually large capacity for a mainstream camera flagship, particularly one that is still around 8mm thick.
Malaysia looks increasingly likely
Before the China launch, global variants of the X500, X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max were spotted in Malaysia’s SIRIM database. The listed model numbers are V2619 for the X500, V2621 for the X500 Pro and V2610 for the X500 Pro Max.
A SIRIM certification is not an official launch announcement, so we would still wait for vivo Malaysia before talking about local pricing or availability. In China, the X500 Pro Max starts at CNY6,999, but direct currency conversion is not a reliable guide to Malaysian retail pricing.
If vivo does bring the full X500 family here, the Pro Max could be one of the more interesting camera phones to watch, especially for users who want long-range photography and high-end video without giving up battery capacity.
