Sony Malaysia hosted a midnight launch event for the release of God of War on the PlayStation 4. Gamers that pre-ordered the game started lining up at 3 PM in order to be the first in line to get the latest and highly anticipated return of the latest instalment in the epic saga.

While waiting for the clock to strike twelve, Sony had set up mini-games to keep gamers and fans occupied with one of them being an archery contest.

Players had to gather the most amount of points by shooting five arrows. This is reminiscent of Kratos’ son, Atreus who uses a bow and arrow as his main weapon in the game. Next was an axe throwing game which uses a motion tracking camera that will detect players and the motion of throwing an axe.

Players had to collect the most amount of points by doing a throwing motion to hit the targets that popped up on the screen. The idea behind this was taken from the Leviathan Axe that Kratos wields and flings at enemies in the game. There was also a face painting booth, where fans and gamers could come and get the warpaint that Kratos has on his left eye, one of the most popular areas of the launch as well.

Overall the launch event was an enjoyable one, as Sony Malaysia’s representatives were very organized in handling the crowd and were helpful in conducting the games. When midnight came around, the Standard and Collector’s Edition of the games were distributed to players that pre-ordered the game, and in just an hour, most of the gamers had already received their copy and were rushing home to play the latest adventure in the God of War series. If you have still not purchased your own copy of the game, you can download the digital copy or contact your local video game shop to get your self a copy. The game retails for RM209 for both the digital and hard copy. Stay tuned as we will release the full review of the game in the coming weeks.
