Samsung has been testing Android Nougat for a number of weeks now through its own Galaxy Beta Program. The South Korean manufacturing giant has finally rolled out the official Android Nougat software beginning with its Galaxy S7 series, which were part of its beta testing program. The software update includes some native Nougat features, along with Samsung’s own UX changes and improvements.
First off, Samsung’s UX will feature a cleaner looking Quick Settings panel. Notifications are also now grouped to better display information, also adding a Direct Reply option, from the notifications. Multi window support has been on Samsung’s handsets for a while now, hence the multi window support that comes with Android Nougat is pretty much a re-introduction of the existing one. A new nifty feature will be Performance Mode, which allows users to tailor the handset to Game mode, Entertainment mode or High performance mode on top of the regular Optimized mode, according to how users want their devices to perform. Samsung has also introduced Samsung Pass for the S7 and S7 Edge handsets, making it the login master key for selected websites, apps and in the near future, mobile banking.
Along with the rollout of Android Nougat, Samsung has also announced a list of devices that will be receiving Google’s latest Android version within the first half of the year – Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge and S6 edge Plus, Galaxy Note5, Galaxy Tab A with S Pen, Galaxy Tab S2, Galaxy A3, and Galaxy A8.
