Samsung has launched the Galaxy A08 in Malaysia, positioning its latest affordable smartphone around battery life, everyday performance and longer software support. The Galaxy A08 is priced at RM899 and comes in Green, Dark Blue and Silver.
The company has not specified the phone’s RAM and storage configuration in the announcement, but describes the Malaysian model as an LTE device. Samsung also has not listed any launch bundle or limited-time purchase incentive.
A bigger battery and upgraded memory
The Galaxy A08 is powered by a MediaTek Helio G99+ processor and uses LPDDR5 memory, an upgrade aimed at making routine tasks feel smoother while managing power consumption more efficiently. Samsung’s RAM Plus feature can use part of the phone’s storage as virtual memory when additional headroom is needed, and users can switch it off if they would rather preserve that storage space.
A 6,000mAh battery is the other major hardware highlight. Samsung says the larger capacity is designed to support longer stretches of video streaming, social media browsing and everyday communication, although real-world endurance will depend on network conditions, settings and usage.
For photography, the Galaxy A08 carries a 50MP autofocus main camera alongside a 2MP depth sensor. An 8MP camera handles selfies and video calls at the front.
Circle to Search and multiple AI assistants
Samsung is bringing several AI-assisted features to the Galaxy A08. Circle to Search with Google lets users circle or tap something shown on the display to look it up without leaving the current app. Samsung says an expanded Find the Look feature can search for an entire outfit, while the phone can also identify music playing nearby.
The device supports multiple AI agents, including Gemini and Perplexity. A voice command or long press can call an assistant to work across supported Samsung apps, Google services and selected third-party apps. The exact functions available will depend on the apps and services supported in Malaysia.
Six years of security updates
The Galaxy A08 carries an IP64 rating for dust resistance and protection against water splashes. It also includes Samsung Knox and Knox Vault, which uses a hardware-backed environment to isolate sensitive information from the main operating system.
More unusually for a phone at this price, Samsung promises up to six generations of operating-system upgrades and six years of security updates. That longer support window could be one of the Galaxy A08’s strongest selling points for buyers who intend to keep their phone for several years.
The Samsung Galaxy A08 is available in Malaysia at a recommended retail price of RM899.
