AMD, the company that owns the Radeon line of graphics cards has finally unveiled the RX series. This comes in the form of the Polaris Refinded band name which is a major upgrade form the previous year where they release the Polaris graphics cards. With the release of this new graphics cards, Radeon ReLive will take advantage of the new line of graphics cards to ensure a smoother game capture.
With the new Radeon RX 580, AMD has claim that gameplay on 1440p at high settings will have no issues passing the 60 FPS benchmark as games such as Battlefield 1, Doom, Overwatch and Resident Evil 7 will perform well over 60 FPS. Of course, the Radeon Chill system also comes to the Radeon RX series by lowing response time by 64% and lowers the power usage by 28%.When it comes to VR, the Radeon RX 580 will enable VR game play at above 100 FPS from games like SUPERHOT, Arizona Sunshine, and Serious Sam VR, giving a more immersive VR gameplay at higher framerates. The Radeon RX 580 clocks in at 1257 Mhz with a boost clock of 1340 MHz. It has 36 compute units and a 8GB GDDR5 memory with a 256 bit interface.
Playing games at 1080p at ultra settings on Radeon RX 570 will see a massive improvement across majority games such as Doom, Resident Evil, Battlefield 1 and Sniper Elite 4. All the games mention will run well above 60 FPS. Thanks to Radeon Chill, the RX 570 will be running at 43% lesser power and up to 20 degrees cooler. The Radeon RX 570 is clocked at 1168 MHz with a boost clock of 1244 MHz. It has 32 compute units and a 4GB GDDR5 memory with a 256 bit interface.
Falling towards the budget side of the Radeon RX series, the Radeon RX 560 well see a stable 60 FPS to 70 FPS on games such as Civilization 4, Doom and Battlefield 1, but 111 FPS on Overwatch. With Radeon Chill, the Radeon RX 560 will see a 43% quicker response time, lowers the power usage buy 28% and bringing the temperature down by 7 degrees. The Radeon RX 560 clocks at 1175 MHz with a boost clock of 1275 Mhz. It has 16 compute units and a 4GB GDDR5 memory with a 128 bits interface.
Finally the last graphics card released in the RX line is the Radeon RX 550, which shows decent framerates over everyday casual gaming. Frames for the RX 550 are well over 60 FPS on lesser demanding games such as Counter Strike: Global Offensive, Dota 2, Overwatch and Rocket League. There is also improvements on performance when it comes to Photoshop which is 7 times faster and 19 times faster on Premiere. The Radeon RX 550 will support Radeon wide range of FreeSync monitors and is 4K home theater PC ready which supports 4K playback and HDR. With the Radeon Chill, you can expect a 41% quicker response time, 37% lower power usage and cooler by 15 degrees.
The new RX 500 series graphics cards is set to release today and will be priced at USD70 – USD269 depending on the model. Lets hope that when it officially comes to Malaysia it will be priced reasonabally so that everyone can enjoy the performance they can deliver at a cheaper price point.
