HONOR has started rolling out MagicOS 11 in China, marking the company’s Android 17 generation with a much bigger focus on proactive AI and system-level automation. The update is already reaching selected Chinese devices, but Malaysian users should not assume that the same rollout schedule applies here.
HONOR’s official China upgrade plan includes a wide range of recent phones and tablets, including familiar models such as the Magic7 Pro, Magic6 Pro, Magic5 Pro, Magic V5, HONOR 400 and HONOR 400 Pro. However, HONOR has not published a corresponding global or Malaysia timetable yet.
MagicOS 11 wants YOYO to do more than answer questions
The headline feature is HONOR’s system-level Agent Harness, which is designed to let its YOYO assistant understand a request, break it into steps and carry out actions across the operating system. HONOR says the latest YOYO can handle long multi-step tasks and provide more proactive assistance based on context and user habits.
The system also brings a redesigned visual layer with liquid-style animations, deeper AI integration in areas such as calls, calendars and file search, and improvements to system storage efficiency. HONOR says some upgrades can reclaim significant storage space through new compression techniques.
China’s upgrade list is not a Malaysia release schedule
The important detail for Malaysian owners is that HONOR’s currently published timetable is for China. Some devices on that list are China-only models, while global firmware versions typically follow a separate validation and regional rollout process.
That means a Magic7 Pro or HONOR 400 Pro sold in Malaysia may be eligible for MagicOS 11 without receiving it on the same date as its Chinese counterpart. The safest approach is to wait for HONOR Malaysia to announce the local rollout rather than sideloading Chinese firmware or joining a China-only beta programme.
How to check when MagicOS 11 reaches your phone
When the update becomes available locally, you should be able to check it through Settings > System & updates > Software update. It is also worth keeping the My HONOR app updated, as HONOR sometimes uses it for upgrade notices and beta registration in supported markets.
For now, MagicOS 11 is still worth watching because the China plan suggests HONOR intends to support a broad range of older devices, including the Magic5 generation. We will update the Malaysia availability once HONOR publishes an official regional schedule.
