The Sony PlayStation 5 was due to be unveiled this June 5 through an online event – but the company announced that the event will be postponed in light of the riots happening in the US because of the death of George Floyd.

Sony took to Facebook and Twitter to make the announcement saying that they do not feel it is the right time to celebrate and will be showing solidarity for those affected by the issue.

Sony isn’t the only big name to delay an event in support of the movement – Google too had earlier postponed the launch of the Android 11 OS which was due to happen this June 3.

Also like Google’s postponement, Sony hasn’t announced a new date for the PS5’s launch yet. It is unfortunate that we won’t get to see Sony’s latest console soon, but more important issues are at the fore, so it’s understandable.
