Back in CES, ZTE mentioned that they would be crowdsourcing suggestions in order to build a new mobile device. Today, the creation of this crowdsourced device has begun with ZTE launching Project CSX.
Starting from today, ZTE USA will be opening up its Z-Community forum where a Project CSX thread will be maintained over the course of the next few weeks. Those who have an idea or suggestion can post it in the thread. After the idea submissions period ends, ZTE will put all viable ideas into a voting round, allowing the users to vote for whichever feature they want most.
Development of Project CSX will take place in two stages, with each stage having their own submission and voting periods. Currently, Project CSX is in its idea suggestion stagees, which will run until the end of the month. These ideas would then progress to the voting stages at the beginning of September. The second stage will be concepts, and it will begin in mid-September.
There are a few guidelines when it comes to suggesting ideas for Project CSX of course, with the main one being that the technology that will be implemented in the device must be “realistically possible by 2017” and must be “affordable for the general population.” Apart from that tough, you’re free to come out with any ideas you think would fit into a smartphone. Those who have their ideas accepted by ZTE will stand a chance to win prizes, and may even be invite to CES next year. Project CSX is expected to be announced in CES 2017, and the device is expected to be available sometime in 2017.
